Private lessons are the most flexible thing we offer. We meet you where you are and build the program around what you need — whether that's fixing a specific problem, prepping for a title or sport, or just learning the ropes one-on-one.
When Private Is the Right Call
Reactivity or aggression issues that need careful handling. Sport or competition prep. Dogs who don't work well in a group setting. Owners who want to go faster than a group class allows. New puppy foundations if our group class schedule doesn't line up.
YOUR DOG, YOUR PACE
Group classes work great for a lot of dogs. They don't work for every dog. Reactive dogs, fearful dogs, dogs who can't focus in a crowd yet — these dogs need space, and they need a trainer who's reading them, not splitting attention across six handlers.
That's what private is for. You get full attention. We work at the speed your dog can actually absorb. And we can train in the environments that matter — the busy parks, sidewalks, and storefronts where your dog falls apart.
Format
Sessions are 45 minutes to an hour. We can meet at our facility or a training environment that matches your goals — a park, a busy sidewalk, wherever your dog actually needs the work. We start with a short conversation about what you want, watch your dog work for a few minutes to see where you actually are, then build a session that moves the needle.
What We Cover
Whatever your dog needs. Reactivity protocols, recall rebuilding, leash mechanics, off-leash proofing, focus and engagement, problem behavior reduction, sport foundations, advanced obedience polishing. The agenda is yours — you tell us the priority and we sequence it across sessions.
Between Sessions
The lesson is when we teach. The reps between lessons are where the dog actually learns. Every session ends with specific take-home exercises and how to know when your dog is ready for the next thing. If something stops working between sessions, message us — we'd rather adjust by text than wait a week.
How Many Sessions You'll Need
Light tune-ups: 3–4 sessions. Moderate behavior work: 6–8 sessions. Serious reactivity or aggression cases: 10+ sessions, usually spread over 2–3 months. We'll give you a realistic estimate after the first session.

Common Questions
Honest answer: it depends on the dog and the goal. A polite-but-pulls-on-leash dog usually needs 3–4 sessions. A reactive dog who lunges at every passing dog usually needs 8–12 spread over a few months. An aggression case is longer still. We'll give you a real estimate after the first session — and we'd rather tell you what it actually takes than sell you a package that's too short to work.
Most cases, yes — but "fix" is a strong word. We can dramatically reduce the behavior, build a reliable management plan, and give you skills to navigate triggers without a meltdown. Some cases (severe inter-dog aggression, bite history with specific patterns) may always require management rather than full "cure" — and we'll be straight with you about which one you're looking at.
No — we don't do in-home training. Dogs learn faster in a structured setting and in the real-world places where behavior actually breaks down (parks, sidewalks, storefronts), so that's where we work. If getting to us is the hard part, ask about board & train — Laura can pick your dog up in our Sprinter van for a fee.
24+ hours notice — no problem, we'll move it. Less than 24 hours — we ask that you still pay for the session. Trainers' time is the inventory we're selling, and a last-minute cancellation can't be re-sold. Emergencies happen and we'll work with you in good faith.
